CTS Awards & Scholarships
Outstanding Service Award
This award is given for outstanding service to the CTS Council. The recipient, who does not have to be a member of the council, will receive a framed certificate and plaque, conference registration for the coming year and one-year membership in the council. The council may award up to four Outstanding Service Awards per year.
Distinguished Service Award
This award is given to a retired member of the CTS Council in recognition of long-term service to the profession and the council. A member of the council must nominate the recipient. The recipient will receive a certificate of appreciation and plaque.
Teacher Excellence Award
The recipient receives a framed certificate and plaque, one-year free membership in the council and registration for the next CTS conference. The council may award up to four Teacher Excellence Awards per year.
Scholarships
1. There shall be two $500 scholarships presented annually—one to a CTS/Business focus student at the University of Alberta and one at the University of Lethbridge (Geraldine Farmer Scholarship, Clare Hollingsworth Scholarship).
2. There shall be one $500 scholarship presented to a CTS/Home Economics focus student at an Alberta university (Suzan Szewaga Memorial Scholarship).
3. There shall be one $500 scholarship presented annually to a CTS/Industrial Education focus student at an Alberta university.
4. There shall be one $500 scholarship presented annually to a CTS/Resource focus student at an Alberta university.
5. Criteria for Scholarships:
Applicant is a student at an Alberta University.
Applicant is registered in a senior undergraduate program of a bachelor of education program in one of the CTS specialist areas: Business Education, Home Economics, Industrial Education or Resources
The applicant:
—has satisfactory academic standard
—has potential for excellence in teaching
—has demonstrated a commitment to a specialist area in Career and Technology Studies through professional, related activities.
